텍스트 네트워크 분석을 활용한 작은학교 연구 동향 분석- 강원도교육청 소속 작은학교를 대상으로 -

In response to the population decline in rural, mountainous and fishing villages, the government has been promoting the policy of integrating and abolishing small schools and fostering appropriately sized schools since 1982. Accordingly, several cities and provinces across the country have enacted ordinances related to small schools and have been promoting small school-related policies considering regional characteristics.
The purpose of this study is to find out the keywords of small school research trends based on academic papers related to small schools, analyze the curriculum of various small schools in Gangwon-Province that are operating the ‘Make Small School Hope’ project, and conduct common and distinctive educational activities. to provide basic data for establishing support and revitalization plans for small schools. The research method was analyzed based on academic papers related to small schools after 2000, reports on the operation results of small school hope making by unit school from 2017 to 2021, and the operation plan for 2022, and elementary teachers working at small schools in P region, Gangwon-Province A survey was conducted on the subjects. For data analysis, text network analysis was performed using Netminer 4, and topic modeling and connection centrality analysis were performed for data processing. The results of the study can be summarized as follows. First, the keywords for research trends in theses related to small schools are ‘small schools and village educational communities’, ‘development and improvement direction of small school integration’, ‘joint education curriculum operation’, and ‘small school related policies’. was analyzed. Second, as a result of keyword analysis of the curriculum of small schools, the keyword with the highest connection centrality in 2017-2019 before COVID-19 and 2021-2022 after COVID-19 is ‘field experience learning’, and During the period, all keywords within the top 5 were ‘culture and art’. Other keywords that appear in common, such as ‘skiing’ and ‘surfing’, show that the local natural environment and the presence or absence of facilities have a great influence on the operation programs of small schools. On the other hand, in the survey, 88% of 25 teachers working in small schools in area P responded that they were highly satisfied with their work at small schools, felt a sense of worth and accomplishment, and hoped to continue working at small schools in the future. This is based on the reasons for satisfaction with the autonomy of class management, grade-centered educational activities, good relationship with students, and school atmosphere.
Based on these research results, it is required to link with the local curriculum that can continue the common and distinctive educational activities of small schools, and furthermore, it is proposed to build an integrated management network that connects small schools and regions.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

농산어촌의 인구감소에 따라 정부에서는 1982년부터 소규모학교 통폐합 정책과 적정규모 학교 육성 정책을 추진해오고 있지만 농산어촌 지역의 교육 문제의 해결방안으로는 큰 역할을 하지 못하고 있다. 이에 전국의 몇몇 시도에서는 작은학교 관련 조례를 제정하고 지역 특성을 고려한 작은학교 관련 정책을 추진해오고 있다.
이 연구의 목적은 작은학교 관련 학술논문을 바탕으로 작은학교 연구 동향의 키워드를 알아보고, 강원도의 작은학교 정책인 ‘작은학교 희망만들기’ 사업을 운영하는 여러 작은학교들의 교육과정을 분석하여 공통되고 특색있는 교육활동을 찾아 작은학교 지원 및 활성화 방안 설정을 위한 기초자료를 마련하는데 있다.
연구 방법은 2000년 이후의 작은학교 관련 학술논문, 2017~2021년 단위학교별 작은학교 희망만들기 운영 결과보고서와 2022년 운영계획서를 바탕으로 분석하였고, 강원도 P지역의 작은학교에 근무하는 초등교사를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 자료 분석은 넷마이너4를 사용하여 텍스트 네트워크 분석을 하였으며, 자료의 처리 방법은 토픽 모델링, 연결 중심성 분석을 하였다.
연구 결과는 다음과 같이 요약할 수 있다. 첫째, 작은학교와 관련된 논문들의 연구 동향 키워드 분석은 ‘작은학교와 마을교육공동체’, ‘작은학교 통폐합의 발전과 개선 방향’, ‘공동교육과정 운영’, ‘작은학교 관련 정책’이다. 둘째, 작은학교의 교육과정을 키워드 분석한 결과, 코로나 이전인 2017년~2019년과 코로나 이후인 2021년~2022년에서 가장 연결 중심성이 높은 키워드는 ‘현장체험학습’이며, 코로나 이전과 이후의 기간 동안 모두 5순위 안에 있는 키워드는 ‘문화예술’로 나타났다. 또한‘스키’, ‘서핑’ 등 공통으로 나타난 키워드로 지역의 자연환경과 시설의 여부가 작은학교의 운영 프로그램에 많은 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있다. 한편 P지역의 작은학교에 근무하는 초등교사 25명에 대한 설문조사에서는 전체의 88%가 작은학교에서의 근무 만족도가 높고 보람과 성취감을 느끼며 앞으로도 작은학교에 근무하길 희망한다고 응답하였다. 이는 수업 운영의 자율성, 학년 중심의 교육활동, 학생들과의 원만한 관계, 학교의 분위기에 대한 만족 이유를 기초로 한다.
이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 앞으로 작은학교만의 공통되고 특색있는 교육활동이 지속될 수 있도록 지역 교육과정과의 연계가 요구되고, 더 나아가 작은학교와 지역을 연결하는 통합 관리 네트워크의 구축을 제언한다.
