올콧의『작은 아씨들』: 소설과 영화의 서사구조와 주제구현의 차이 = Little Women : The Difference of Narrative Structure and Theme in Novel and Film

In Little Women, Alcott hides such a radical attitude and ideology as feminism by her scrupulous intent and design through the double narrative structure of the novel. Alcott uses both a surface narrative and a deep narrative to disclose an extended vision of feminine conflict between appropriate womanly behaviour and human desire for assertiveness and fulfillment. Because an oppressed and subversive woman’s voice is concealed in the deep narrative, it is not easy to find the main theme of this book. But, this tension of complex narrative structure is disregarded in the film adaptation to reveal one point of view and vision among various themes. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyze the difference of narrative structure and theme in the novel Little Women and its film versions.
