省齋 柳重敎의 經學과 經世論 = Lyu Joongkyo s thoughts on Chineses Classics and Statecraft

국문 초록 (Abstract)

유중교 경세론(經 )의 주요 골격은 선후본말론( ) 인수대별론 ( 大 ) 인심도심론( 道 ) 등과 같은 경학(經 )의 주요 논제들로 부터 도출된 것이었다. 유중교의 경세론에는 통치자의 솔선수범과 여민동락을 강조하는 내용이나 시의( )에 맞는 개혁을 추진하라는 내용 등도 많이 보이 는데, 이 또한 유교 경전의 지론이었던 것이다. 경학으로부터 경세론을 도출하는 것은 모든 유학자들의 공통점으로서, 유중교만의 특징이라 할 수 없다. 또한 유중교의 위정척사론은 당시의 위정척사론, 특히 화서학파의 일반론과 궤를 같이 하는 것으로서, 유중교만의 고유한 특징이라고 볼 수 있는 것은 거의 없다. 다만 유중교가 제시한 삼정( )의 구체적 개혁방안에 있어서는 몇 가지 독특하고도 주목할 만한 내용을 볼 수 있었다. 그 중에서도 특히 주목할 것은 관리의 횡포를 막는 방법으로 ‘향촌민들의 자율에 맡기는 방법’을 적극 제안했다는 점이다. 이러한 제안은 오늘날에도 여전히 유효한 것으로 보인다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The main points of Lyu s statecraft derive from those themes of Chinese Classics such as Orders, Man vs Animal, Raw and Cultivated Minds. His statecraft emphasizes leader s example, ruler s sharing pleasure with subjects and well-timed reforms which are also the main arguments of Chinese Classics. His statecraft and his theory of protecting righteousness and expelling wickedness have not any peculiar characteristic of his own. However, there are some peculiar points in his reform proposals on three major policies such as those of farm tax, military services, and exchanging grains. Especially noteworthy is his proposal of authorizing villagers to treat extremely corrupt officials by themselves.
