사이버커뮤니케이션과 종교적 정체성, 그리고 사회갈등 = Cyber-Communication, Religious Identity, and Social Conflict

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 사이버커뮤니케이션을 통한 종교 생활의 변화가 종교적 정체성과 종교적 배타성에 미치는 영향을 파악하고, 그로 인한 종교간 갈등의 가능성을 검토하고 있다.
사이버 종교 생활과 종교적 정체성, 종교적 배타성에 대한 회귀분석을 통해 기본적으로 사이버 종교 생활이 종교적 정체성과 종교적 배타성을 강화하는 효과를 거두고 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 종교에 따라 사이버 종교 생활이 종교적 정체성이나 종교적 배타성에 대해 미치는 영향이 다름도 파악할 수 있었다.
한편 다양한 영역의 사이버공간에서 종교간 갈등 양상이 빚어지고 있음을 몇 가지 사례를 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 종교다원현상이 심화되면서 나타난 종교간 경쟁의 심화는 언제든 종교간 갈등이 유발될 수 있는 사회적 환경을 조성하고 있다. 그런 맥락 속에서 사이버 종교 생활은 종교적 정체성 및 종교적 배타성을 강화하고, 종교간 갈등에 동원할 수 있는 다양한 행위 목록들을 제공함으로써 사이버공간에서 종교간 갈등의 발생 및 심화에 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.
이 논문은 종교적 정체성이 사회갈등으로 전화되는 과정에 대해 주목하고 있다는 점과 미디어, 특히 사이버커뮤니케이션이 종교적 정체성의 형성 및 강화에 어떻게 관여하는지를 구체적으로 파악하고 있다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 또한 종교적 정체성의 표출이 다종교 상황에서 어떤 결과를 이끌어낼 지에 대해서도 의미 있는 정보를 제공하고 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this paper, I studied the relationship among the cyber-communication, religious life, religious identity, and religious exclusiveness. Then I discussed the possibility of inter-religious conflict and cyber-religious life.
I was confirmed that cyber-religious life strengthens the religious identity and religious exclusiveness. And I found that influence of cyber-religious life on the religious identity and religious exclusiveness appears differently on religious groups.
Also, I have found that a large number of inter-religious conflicts occur in cyberspace. In multi-religious society, the inter-religious conflict can happen at any time due to the deepening of inter-religious competition. Cyber religious life is affecting the development and deepening of inter-religious conflict in cyberspace, through strengthening of religious identity and exclusiveness, providing various action lists that can be mobilized in inter-religious conflict.
The significance of this paper is to describe emerging process of social conflict from Religious identity, especially the way that cyber- religious life is involved in formation and strengthening of religious identity and religious exclusiveness. In addition, this study is providing meaningful information about the results to bring the expression of religious identity in a multi-religious context.
