본 연구는 유아의 성장에 가장 영향력 있는 어머니가 가족과 주위 대인관계로부터 물질적, 정보적, 정서적, 평가적 지지를 받는다고 지각하는 정도에 따라 상, 중, 하로 구분하여 어머니가 지각하고 있는 사회적 지지와 유아의 정서지능과는 어떠한 관계가 있는지 살펴봄으로써 유아의 정서지능 발달에 대하여 조금 더 깊이 있게 이해하고, 더 나아가 부모교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지와 유아의 정서지능과의 관계를 규명해 보고자 하였다.
이와 같은 연구목적에 따라 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다.
1. 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지에 따라 유아의 정서지능은 차이가 있는가?
2. 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지와 유아의 성별/연령에 따라 정서 지능에 차이가 있는가?
3. 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지는 유아의 정서지능을 예측해 주는가?
1) 어머니가 지각한 사회적지지 전체 점수는 유아의 정서지능 전체 및 하위요인을 예측해 주는가?
2) 어머니가 지각한 사회적지지 하위척도점수는 유아의 정서지능 전체 및 하위요인을 예측해 주는가?
4. 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지는 유아의 정서지능을 성별에 따라 예측해 주는가?
본 연구대상은 서울에 위치한 유치원 6곳에 다니고 있는 만 3세∼ 만 6세 유아 172명과 그의 어머니들이다. 연구도구는 2가지 종류로 어머니용 질문지와 교사용 질문지였다. 어머니용 질문지는 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지를 알아보기 위한 것이고, 교사용 질문지는 유아의 정서지능을 알아보기 위한 내용으로 구성되어있다. 수집된 자료는 빈도분석, 변량분석, 단순상관분석, 중다회귀분석을 실시하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 유아의 정서지능은 사회적 지지와 부분적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다. 유아의 정서지능 하위 요인 중 자기정서 인식은 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다.
둘째, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지와 유아의 성별, 연령에 따른 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지 전체 점수가 유아의 정서지능 전체 및 하위요인에 어떠한 영향이 있는가를 알아보았다. 그 결과 지각한 총 사회적 지지에 정서지능 중 자기 정서이용, 자기정서인식, 교사관계에 긍정적인 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지 하위요인과 유아의 정서지능 전체 및 하위요인에 어떠한 영향이 있는가를 알아보았다. 그 결과 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지 중 정보지지는 정서지능 중 자기 정서이용과 자기 정서인식에 긍정적인 영향이 있고, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지 중 평가지지는 교사관계와 긍정적인 영향이 있었다.
넷째, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지에 대한 정서지능은 여아가 전체 정서지능, 정서이용, 정서인식, 교사관계, 그리고 또래관계 등에 대해 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지의 영향이 남아보다 높게 나타났다.
이상의 연구 결과를 종합해 보면, 어머니가 지각한 사회적 지지는 유아의 정서지능에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

This study tried to closely examine the relations between the
social supports perceived by mothers and their infants emotional intelligences for more deeply understanding the infants emotional intelligence advancements and moreover proposing the basic data for developing the educational programs for parents; this study divided the above-mentioned social supports into three steps of fine, medium
and poor one according to the degrees that mothers influencing most to their infants growths perceived to receive the material, informational, emotional and appraisal supports from their families and surrounding human relationships and seized what rela- tions were between the divided social supports recognized by mothers and
their infants emotional intelligences.
For these study objectives the following study problems were established.
1. Do infants emotional intelligences show any differences according to the social supports perceived by their mothers?
2. Do the social supports recognized by mothers influence their infants emotional intelligences differently by sexes and ages?
3. Can the social supports perceived by mothers predict their
infants emotional intelligences?
1) Can the total scores of the social supports realized by
mothers predict all the factors or the sub-factors of their infants emotional intelligences?
2) Can the sub- scale scores of the social supports perceived by mothers predict all the factors or the sub-factors of their infants emotional intelligences?
4. Can the social supports recognized by mothers predict their infants emotional intelligences differently by sexes?
The subjects of this study were the 172 infants from 3 to 6 and their mothers to the 6 kindergartens in Seoul. The study tools were two questionnaires: one was for mothers and the other, for teachers. The former was for grasping the social supports recognized by mothers; the latter was for seizing the infants emotional intelligences. The collected data were analyzed through a frequency analysis, a variance analysis, a simple correlation analysis and a
multiple regression analysis.
The results of this study were as follows.
First, the infants emotional intelligences showed significant differences partially from the social supports. The self-emotion recognition among the sub-factors of the infants emotional intelligences appeared to be influenced by the social supports realized by the mothers.
Second, the social supports perceived by the mothers appeared not to influence the infants emotional intelligences differently by sexes and ages.
Third, this study tried to grasp what the total scores of the social supports perceived by the mothers influenced to all the factors and the sub-factors of the infants emotional intelligences. As the result of it, all of the social supports perceived by the mothers appeared to affirmatively influence to the utilization and the recognition of the infants self-emotions and the relations with their teachers. And it
tried to seize what the sub-factors of the social supports recognized by the mothers influenced to all the factors and the sub-factors of the infants emotional intelligences. As the result of it, the informational support among the social supports perceived by themothers affirmatively influenced to the utilization and the recognition of the enfants self-emotions among their emotional intelligences, and
the appraisal support among them, to the relations with their
teachers.
Fourth, the social supports recognized by the mothers appeared to influence more to the female infants than to the male ones in the point of entirely-emotional intelligence, the utilization of the emotion, the relations with their teachers and the relations with the same ages.
To synthesize the above-mentioned study results, the social
supports perceived by mothers influence to their infants emotional intelligences.
