<생은 다른 곳에>의 서술 구조와 모티프 연구 = A Study of Narrative Structure and Motifs of Life is Elsewhere

국문 초록 (Abstract)

는 쿤데라가 즐겨 사용하는 소설 구조인 7부로 나누어져 있는데, 그 가운데 5부의 내용은 주인공인 ‘시인’에 집중돼 있 다. 작가의 두 번째 소설 이야기의 소재는 허구적 시인의 일대기에 불 과하지만, 그 구조는 매우 복잡하다. 는 쿤데라와 같은 세대인 소설 속의 젊은 시인 ‘야로밀’의 탄생과 죽음까지를 다룬다. 작가는 상상 속의 주인공인 시인 이 경험하는 모험과 유럽의 주요한 서정 시인들의 삶을 대비시키고 있 다. 이를 통해 작가도 청년시절 한때 빠졌던 서정성의 위험을 상기시키 다. 또한 작가는 이 작품을 통해서 유럽의 서정적인 아방가르드의 감정 에 치우친 정치적인 관점을 조롱하고 미성숙과 파괴성을 비난한다. 쿤데라의 견해에 따르면, 서정 시인들은 ‘여자들의 치마폭에 놀아나 고 있는 존재’와 같다. 야로밀의 어머니는 그를 과보호했고 그는 늘 어 머니에게 복종했다. 야로밀은 그처럼 자신의 어머니로부터 헤어 나오 지 못하는 마마보이였으며, 따라서 그는 현실에 합리적으로 대처할 수 있는 능력을 가지지 못한다. 쿤데라의 모든 소설작품 가운데 이 작품에 등장하는 어머니가 가장 심술궂고 괴팍한 인물이라고 할 수 있다. 그녀 는 소견이 좁고 신경질적이며, 전도된 오이디푸스 콤플렉스 증상이 있 는 부유한 중산층의 어머니로서 피해자를 왜곡된 믿음으로 인도하는 역할을 수행한다. 쿤데라의 다른 소설인 이나 에서와 같이, 본고에서 다루고자 하는 작품 속에서도 죄 없는 죄인들을 등장시켜서 사회주의의 제도적 모순을 비판한다. 또한 이 소설에서는 독특하게 서정적인 청춘의 모티프가 변형된 오이디푸스 콤플렉스 모티 프 및 심술궂은 어머니의 모티프 등이 서로 연관성을 갖고 있으며, 정 치적 풍자 모티프, 죄 없는 죄인들의 모티프 등이 등장한다. 쿤데라의 거의 대부분의 소설작품들이 보여주고 있듯이, 이 작품에 서 쿤데라식 오이디푸스 콤플렉스는 프로이드의 전통적인 오이디푸스 콤플렉스와는 다르게 나타난다. 특히 아들보다는 어머니에게서 그러한 특징이 나타나고 있는 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Kundera's second novel Life is Elsewhere is composed of 7 chapters which is a composition Kundera commonly uses when he writes novels. Five of them are focused on the hero, who is a poet. The subject of Kundera's second novel is the fictional life of a poet, but it's structure is complicated. This novel which deals with the entire life of the hero, and like the 19th. century German novel ‘Bildungsroman,’ starts with birth of the poet and ends with his death. His mother's fundamental, devoted and unlimited love for her son has an atmosphere of the Kunderian Oedipus complex. This atmosphere deepens along with his growth. His poetic ability is founded from an early age. Jaromil opens his eye to the abstract and surrealistic world thanks to the help of a painter, who becomes his mother's lover. Though later on Jaromil condemns him as an enemy of socialism. Life is Elsewhere is an analysis of young Jaromil's life, who is from the same generation as the author. Kundera compares the adventures of this fictional poet to the lives of famous European lyrical poets such as Shelly, Lermontov, Keats, Arthur Rimbaud, and Mayakovsky as well as the Czech poet Wolker. Kundera criticizes and mocks Jaromil's emotionally biased political views, immaturity and destructiveness. According to Kundera, lyrical poets are the puppets of their mothers. Jaromil's mother is very overprotective of him and he is also obedient to her. So Jaromil becomes a mama's boy who can not escape from his mother's influence. Therefore he is unable to rationally cope with reality. Perhaps the mother of this novel is the most perversive and monstrous heroine among Kundera's fictional women. She is narrow minded, nervous and has a deformed type of the Oedipus complex. Thus she misleads her son. Kundera criticizes the contradiction of the socialist system through with its members become innocent criminals. The lyrical youth motive is related with the motives of the mother's deformed Oedipus complex and perversity. There are also motives of political satire and innocent criminals. There is also a unique motive of a man's beauty. The Kunderian Oedipus complex motive which we may find in his major novels is different from the original Freudian one. In this novel we find that such symptoms appear more strongly in the mother rather than the son. This novel is a story of the life of a weak minded mama's boy and deals with general fate of lyrical poets.
