중·노년의 사회경제적 지위와 건강상태의 관계에서 가족관계 질의 매개효과

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship among socioeconomic status, health, and family relationships using the data set from a representative national scale, particularly the data from old age population.
Health (physical and mental) is greatly influenced by social factors and the root cause of the disease is closely related to socio-economic status. The World Health Organization (WHO) explained that health should be defined in terms of a status of physical status, mental state, and personal well-being. Thus, based on the WHO definition of health, this study includes physical and mental health variables as health status.
Recent studies have documented that the relationship between socioeconomic status and health variables have mediated or moderated by the quality of family relationship. However, the studies regarding the relationship among health, socioeconomic status, and family is limited in Korea. Thus, the current study examines the relationship between the status of health and socioeconomic status, the relationship between the status of health and a quality of family relationship. 국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대표성 있는 전국규모의 자료를 활용하여, 사회경제적 지위, 건강, 가족 관계의 질의 관계를 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 중노년의 자료를 활용함으로 중·노년 세대의 가족 관계의 질이 건강과 어떠한 관련이 있는지 살펴보고자 한다.
세계보건기구(WHO)는 건강은 육체적, 정신적 상태를 포함한 다각적인 측면에서 정의되어야 한다고 규정하였다. 육체적 건강의 관점에서 건강은 개인적이고 생물학적인 의학적 문제였다. 그러나 이러한 시각이 확대되면서 건강이 사회적 요인에 의해 크게 영향을 받으며, 질병의 근본 원인은 개인의 사회경제적 지위와 밀접한 관련이 있다고 연구 결과가 발표되고 있다.
이와 관련하여 사회경제적 지위와 건강의 관계를 매개 혹은 조절하는 변인으로 가족 역할의 중요성이 새로운 매개 변인으로 주목 받고 있다. 즉 경제적으로 어려울 경우 건강에 악영향을 미칠 영향력이 높아지나 가족 관계의 질이 높으면 악화되는 정도가 낮아질 것이라는 점이다. 또한 긍정적 가족관계는 건강에 유의한 영향을 미친다고 한다. 그러나 이에 비해 국내에서는 사회경제적 지위와 신체적, 정신적 건강의 관계를 매개하는 가족관계 질에 대한 관심이 매우 제한적으로 다루어지고 있는 것이 사실이다. 또한 사회경제적 지위와 건강상태가 연령에 따라 달라지는데 중년층과 노년층을 대표하는 집단을 비교하는 연구 및 두 관계를 매개하는 가족관계의 역할을 구조모형을 통해 검증한 연구는 이루어지고 있지 않다.
따라서 본 연구는 중년층과 노년층의 사회경제적 지위, 건강상태, 가족관계의 질을 살펴보고, 긍정적 가족관계가 사회경제적 지위와 건강상태의 관계를 매개하는지 구조모형을 통해 검증하고자 한다.
