The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of the moral judgement and nursing ethical values of nursing students. The subjects were 271 nursing students. The Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires in Oct, 2006. We questionnaired the subjects using Nurse's ethical values questionnaires developed by Lee(1990) and Korean version of Defining Issues Test(DIT).
The collected data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Sheffer test and Cronbach's α coefficients.
The results were as follows;
1. The subjects gave 41.38 points on P Scores, which indicates that rely on the ethical principle when they make moral judgement, and 20.03 points on D Scores, which indicates the overall level of moral judgement.
2. In analyzing the factors that influenced the Moral Judgement Index P and D, it was revealed that nursing student's moral judgement D score were significantly higher at the freshman group.
3. The level of nursing ethical values of nursing students was 3.59±.40 of 5 scores. This meant that the ethical values of nursing students were in the direction of a deontological position. The level of nursing ethical values in the co-working relationship was 4.37±.52, patient relationship 3.83±.53 and task relationship 3.27±.52. The level of nursing ethical values in the human life was lowest(3.25±.65).
4. Factors to related to the nursing ethical values of nursing students were grade, living together with parents, the education standard of mother, financial conditions and the standard for ethical values.
5. The correlation between the moral judgement D score and nursing ethical values of nursing students was analyzed to have positive correlation with statistical significance(r=.299, p=.000).
