The purpose of this study is to examine the factors influencing rural elderly`s satisfaction with social support network. The data were collected by administering questionnaire interviews with 360 rural elderly in Kangwha area. The statistical methods used for the analysis were reliability test, Χ²test, and multiple regression. We find that satisfaction level is a function of not only the structural characteristics but also the functional characteristics of social support network. With the increase of the size of social support network, rural elderly were more likely to be satisfied with it. Inequity in exchanges of instrumental support favoring elderly was found to produce greater network satisfaction of rural elderly. However, inequity in exchanges of emotional support did not influence network satisfaction.
