Purpose: This study aimed to identify the problems of curriculum and teaching-learning in teacher education institutions and to find directions for quality improvement for pre-service teachers' professional development.
Design/methodology/data/approach: This study conducted FGI with a total of 18 students, professors, and teachers. The collected qualitative interview data were analyzed using constant comparative analysis method.
Findings/Results: The curriculum and teaching-learning management of teacher education institutions were disparate from the field of elementary, middle, and high schools, which led to the lack of field experience of pre-service teachers.
Value: By comprehensively acquiring diverse opinions and insightful understanding from stakeholders in the field of education, this study will contribute to providing field-based implementation strategies and micro-ideas for innovative changes in the teacher education system.
