The purpose of this study is to identify how mother`s` beliefs of reading books for their children, the strategies and interaction of mothers` reading books for their children and to investigate an the relationship of mother`s` beliefs, the strategies and interaction of reading books for their children. This study targeted 437 parents who sent their children to four kindergartens and six daycare centers located in Cheonan City. A questionnaire survey was carried out using a tool that the author of this paper reproduced, based on the studies of Weigel, Martin& Bennett (2006), Ah Jeong Gwak (1994), and Sook Yee Kim (2004). The collected data were statistically processed using mean, standard deviation Pearson`s correlation and Regression of the SPSS 12.0 program. The results of this study can be summarized below: First, mothers recognized the importance of reading books for their children at home, and they believed that reading books could help their children`s cognitive and linguistic development. Second, there were some relationship between mother`s` beliefs, the strategies and motherchild interaction of reading books for their children. Third, the strategies to read books for children at home were mostly effected by mother`s` beliefs of reading books for their children, but mother -child interaction was slightly effected.
