시와 모션 그래픽스 융합창작에 대한 연구 - 작품 “투영(投影) & 투영(投映)”을 중심으로 = Research about Digital Convergence Creation of Poetry and Motion Graphics - Focused on creations “Projection & Projectors”

This research seeks to overcome the ambiguity of interpretations and the abstruseness of impartation in the arts and technology in an effort to secure a means of communicating with the world by realizing two-dimensional poetry with three-dimensional motion graphics. Borrowing the concepts of ‘Technoetic Humanities’ of Jin Joongkwan and ‘New Media Art’ of Roy Ascott, poems and imagery are combined in what is known as ‘Technoetic Genre-Fusion’. Technoetic Genre-Fusion is an artistic activity involving interaction between modern art genres based on digital technology. Through the collaboration and exhibition of poets and motion graphic artists under the same theme, I aim to ascertain the effects of digital artistic impressions as delivered by modern art. The specific implementation method is inspired by designing a typography based on the visual structure of images. Virtual space and sound elements are combined with modern poetry while using a moving typography, which is an aspect of motion graphics. The moving typography is used to enhance the effects of communication and impression sharing by adding dynamic elements that utilize space in three dimensions to the printed-media-centered information-delivery function of traditional typography. Through this research, there is not only an attempt to escape from the limitations of creations but also the expectation of better development of modern literature and art by creators, readers, and audiences who share the same space. I also anticipate an expansion of various areas of fusion in the arts and humanities. Moreover, I look forward to the creators of each genre as they utilize the advantages of collaboration as well as to the creation of technoetic synergy effects which induce technical interactions with appreciative audiences.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 2차원의 시 텍스트를 3차원의 모션 그래픽스(Motion Grapnics)로 구현함으로써, 현대시가 가진 해석의 애매성과 전달의 난해성을 극복하고, 예술과 기술이 하나가 되어 세상과 소통하는 통로를 확보하고자 한다. 이때 시와 이미지의 장르별 혼합은 ‘진중권의 테크노에틱 인문학’과 ‘로이 애스콧의 뉴미디어 아트’의 개념을 차용하여, 그 접목지점으로 ‘테크노에틱(technoetic) 장르융합’라 정의하고자 한다. 여기서 테크노에틱 장르융합은, 디지털기술력을 바탕으로 한 현대예술의 상호장르성(장르간의 관계성)을 중심으로 한 예술적 행위라고 볼 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 현직 시인과 모션그래픽 창작자가 같은 주제로 공동창작(collaboration)과 전시를 진행함으로써, 현대예술이 전달할 수 있는 디지털 아트에서의 예술적 감동의 전달효과를 확인하고자 한다. 구체적인 구현방법으로는 타이포그래피를 영상의 시각적 구조를 기반으로 디자인하는 방법을 착안하여, 현대시에 가상공간과 사운드 요소를 접목시켜 모션 그래픽스의 한 영역인 무빙 타이포그래피(Moving Typography)를 사용한다. 이때 무빙 타이포그래피의 활용영역은 전통적인 타이포그래피가 가지고 있는 인쇄매체, 즉 텍스트를 기반으로 한 커뮤니케이션 기능에 3차원 동적공간으로 옮겨 공간을 활용한 동적요소를 첨가하여 의미전달 및 감동공유의 효과를 높이고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 창작의 한계를 벗어나려는 시도와 더불어 창작자와 독자, 관람객이 모두 하나의 공간을 공유하며 현대 문학과 예술에서 보다 발전되는 사례를 기대하며, 또한 인문학과 예술의 다양한 융합의 장이 확대되기를 기대해 본다. 더 나아가서는 각 장르의 창작자들이 콜라보레이션의 장점을 최대한 활용하는 것은 물론이고, 예술향유자와의 기술적인 인터렉션까지도 유도할 수 있는 테크노에틱 시너지의 창출도 기대해본다.
