사회적 자본 개념의 미분화 비판 = 퍼트넘의 사회적 자본 개념을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근 사회적 자본은 국내외를 막론하고 사회학, 정치학, 경제학 등의 제반 분야에서 주목받고 있는 개념이다. 그러나 사회적 자본 개념에 내재한 개념적 차이가 양립불가능할 정도로 크지만 그 차이에 대해서는 주의를 기울이지 않고 있다. 사회적 자본개념에 내재한 차이는 이익과 효율성에 기초한 사회적 자본 개념과 사회적 규범이나 공공선에 기초한 사회적 자본 개념으로 구분할 수 있다. 이익과 효용에 기반한 사회적 자본 개념은 ‘자본’에 강세를 두고, 사회적 자본을 희소한 자원에의 접근 또는 활용을 용이하게 만드는 것으로 활용한다. 반면, 사회적 규범이나 공공선을 강조하는 사회적 자본 개념은 ‘사회성’에 강세가 있다. 이 경우 정치문화나 시민적 덕성, 사회규범의 차원에서 사회적 자본 개념을 정초한다. 본 연구는 특히 퍼트넘의 사회적 자본 개념을 주요논의 대상으로 삼고 있는데 그 이유는 이익과 효용에 정향되어 있으면서 동시에 호혜성, 신뢰 등과 같이 이익과 효용으로 포용할 수 없는 이종적 접합이 뚜렷하게 드러나기 때문이다. 향후 사회적 자본 연구는 신뢰의 축적과 작동원리에 보다 주목할 필요가 있다. 사회적 자본의 영역에서 보자면, 신뢰와 직접적인 연관을 갖는 사회적 연대성은 상호이익이나 효용의 원리를 초월해 있는 것이다. 사랑, 우정, 박애, 연민, 돌봄의 가치가 분명 사회적 자본의 주춧돌이라면, 퍼트넘과 같이 이를 상호이익과 공리주의로 해석하는 것은 명확히 구분될 필요가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Recently, the concept of social capital has attracted attention in various fields such as sociology, politics, and economics, both at home and abroad. However, despite the importance of the conceptual difference inherent in the concept of social capital, it does not pay attention to the difference. The difference inherent in the concept of social capital can be divided into the concept of social capital based on profit and efficiency and the concept of social capital based on social norms or common good. The concept of social capital based on profit and utility is based on "capital" and social capital is used to facilitate access to or use of rare resources. On the other hand, the concept of social capital which emphasizes social norms or common good is strong in "sociality". In this case, the concept of social capital is sought in terms of political culture, civic virtue, and social norm. This study mainly focuses on the concept of social capital of Putnam because it is focused on profit and utility as well as reveals the heterogeneous union which can not be embraced by benefits and benefits such as reciprocity and trust. In the future, social capital research needs to pay more attention to the accumulation and formation of trust. In the concept of social capital, social solidarity, which is directly related to trust, transcends the principle of profit or utility. If the value of love, friendship, fraternity, compassion, and care is clearly the cornerstone of social capital, it is wrong to interpret it as mutual benefit and utilitarianism as Putnam.
