코로나19상황에서 반려동물의 양육이 개인의 건강과 공동체 의식에 미치는 영향 = The Impact of Pet Ownership on Individual Health and Sense of Community during the COVID-19 Pandemic

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study, conducted as part of the 2022 Daejeon Metropolitan City social survey, aimed to investigate the impact of pet ownership on compliance with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) social distancing measures, experiences of depression due to the COVID-19 pandemic, differences in the sense of community, and subjective health levels. The results of this study were as follows: First, it was observed that the group comprising pet owners had a higher level of compliance with social distancing measures for COVID-19. Second, it was found that this group experienced lower levels of depression due to COVID-19. Third, the group of pet owners was observed to have a higher sense of community. Finally, it was observed that the group had higher subjective health levels. Therefore, this study indicates that pet ownership has a positive impact not only on social responsibility and depression due to COVID-19, but also on the sense of community and subjective health levels. Ultimately, this suggests that raising pets not only affects the lives of individuals but also contributes to the community and society as a whole. Further research on the various impacts of pet ownership on human life is thus deemed necessary in the future.
