    Research on the predictor variables of children``s well-being is synthesized in this study by using meta-analytic procedures to determine the relative strength of predictor variables (defined as children’s self related, mother related, and peer related variables on children’s well-being). In addition, the study also sought to examine whether the effect sizes of the relationship between the predictors and well-being vary with the scales used to measure the variables under investigation. Thirty-three studies (seven journal articles, and 26 theses) were finally identified to satisfy the criteria for inclusion in the analyses. It was found that the mean effect size obtained from the relationships between children’s self related variables and well-being were the largest. and that of between children’s perceptions of mother related variables and well-being was found to be the second largest. The results from the subgroup analyses revealed that the scales of children’s well-being significantly explain some heterogeneity in the effect sizes obtained from the relationship between the self related variables and children’s well-being. The results also indicate that the scales of mother related variables and peer related variables explain the heterogeneity in the effect sizes obtained from the relationship between the mother related variables or the peer related variables, and children’s well-being.

    Research on the predictor variables of children``s well-being is synthesized in this study by using meta-analytic procedures to determine the relative strength of predictor variables (defined as children’s self related, mother related, and peer related variables on children’s well-being).
