    Flora and seasonal changes of phytoplankton were studied from April to December, 1995 in streams of Unchangsan Mt., Korea. The phytoplankton communities were consisted of 79 taxa or 1 forma, 19 varieties and 59 species in 4 classes. Species composition was predominant of diatoms and green algae although their standing crops were low. During this survey, subdominant species were Cocconeis placentula and Cymbella affinis, evaluated as 10.5% and 9.2% of total in their standing crop, respectively. Others were also dominated such as Melosira varians, Cymbella tumida and Calothrix fusca. Cocconeis placentula and genus Gomphonema were occurred in summer, several species in genus Cymbella in autumn, and Scenedesmus acutus f. alternans in spring, respectively. Although there were some overestimates in simple evaluation of water quality by species diversity in mountaineous and upstremas, these results show that the upstreams of mountain were ranged from oligosaprobic to β-mesosaproblic.

The phytoplankton communities were consisted of 79 taxa or 1 forma, 19 varieties and 59 species in 4 classes. Species composition was predominant of diatoms and green algae although their standing crops were low.
