Regional strategic industry has increasingly attracted interested from policy-makers and academics in Korea. This interest is closely related to questions about why regional industries have declined in spite of policy efforts of central government.
In this context, this study is aimed at identifying problems through both a literature review and an expert survey in relation to the policy process of regional strategic industries. In particular, using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), policy processes (participants, planning, project planning, project selection, project management, etc) have been analyzed within the policy management system.
As a result, authors suggest that a new integrated management organization for fostering regional strategic industries will be needed at the regional level.
