인천교구 관할지역 관련 기해 병오박해 순교자들에 대한 사료 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 목적은 기해 병오박해 순교자들 중 인천교구 관할지역과 관련된 이들을 찾고자 하는 것이다. 우선 달레의『한국천주교회사』에 바탕이 된 다블뤼의『조선 순교사 비망기』와『조선 순교자 약전』을 분석하고 다른 기해 병오박해 관련 기록들과도 비교하는 작업을 하고자 한다.
다블뤼의 기록에 나온 인천지역 관련 순교자들은 모두 6명으로 김성임 마르타, 이군겸 야고보, 장 아나스타시아, 심조이 바르바라, 우술임 수산나, 민극가 스테파노 등이 이에 속한다. 김성임은 부평 출신으로 나오며, 우술임은 인천에서 신앙생활을 한 것으로 나오며, 다른 이들은 인천 출신으로 나온다. 동시대 자료들과 비교해 볼 때 이들의 출신 지역에 대한 언급이 없는 자료들이 더 많다. 김성임이 부평 출신이라는 언급이『기해일기』,『기해 병오박해 순교자 목격 증언록(이하 순교자 증언록)』,『조선 순교사와 순교자들에 대한 보고서』에 있으며 민극가가 인천 지역에서 활동했다는 언급이『순교자 증언록』과 관찬 기록에 나와 있다.『순교자 증언록』에는 이호영 베드로와 이 아가타 자매가 인천 지역 출신이라는 증언과 최경환 프란치스코가 부평에서 거주하였다는 증언이 나와 있다. 이는 다블뤼의 기록에는 없는 내용이다. 또한 관찬 기록에서는 장 아나스타시아로 추정되는 인물이 배교했다는 상반된 기록이 있다.
이러한 사료 분석 작업을 통해 기해 병오박해 때에 인천 지역과 직간접적으로 연결된 순교자들이 결코 적지 않음을 확인할 수 있었다. 비록 순교한 장소는 서울이나 다른 지역이었으나 출신지와 활동 장소는 인천 지역인 순교자들이 10명 정도로 추산할 수 있다. 그러나 이들이 인천 지역에 신앙 공동체를 이루었다는 이야기가 없으며 어떠한 역할을 하였는지도 미미하다. 민극가만이 이 지역에서 교리교사로서 열심히 활동하였다는 언급만이 있다. 비록 그 원형을 상세히 알 수는 없지만 민극가의 활동을 보면 인천 지역에 신앙 공동체가 존재했음을 추정할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to find out martyrs who are related to the region of Incheon during 'Ki-Hae' and 'Byung-O' persecution. Firstly, analyze "Korean Martyrs Memorandum" and "Sketch of Korean Martyrs" written by Daveluy, those were the foundation of Dallet's "Korean Church History", then move to other relative "Ki-Hae and "Byung-O" persecution archives for comparison.
According to Daveluy's documentation, there are 6 martyrs in the region of Incheon; Kim Sung-Im Martha, Lee Kun-Kyum James, Jang Anastasia, Sim Joi Barbara, Woo Sul-Im Susanna and Min Kuk-Ga Stephano. Kim Sung-Im was from Bu-Pyung and Woo Sul-Im has practiced her faith in Incheon, and the others were from Incheon. Comparing other records in that period, there aren't many records which mention their birth places.
In "Ki-Hae Diary", "Ki-Hae and "Byung-O persecution eyewitness testimony-(hereafter 'Martyrs testimony')", "Korean Martyrs history and the record" mentioned that Kim Sung-Im was from Bu-Pyung. The article that Min Kuk-Ga acted in the region of Incheon is written at "Martyrs testimony" and government official documentation.
In "Martyrs testimony", there's a testimony that Lee Ho-Young Peter and Lee Agatha sisters were from the region of Incheon and Choi Kyung-Hwan Francisco lived in Bu-Pyung. These are not written in Daveluy's record. In government official documentation, there is a conflicting record that a person presumed Jang Anastasia became an apostate.
Through examining those records, confirmed that there were many martyrs who related to the region of Incheon directly and indirectly during 'Ki-Hae' and 'Byung-O' persecution. Although execution places were either Seoul or other places, but estimated there were 10 martyrs whose birth places and/or acting places were the region of Incheon. But there was no record that they had faith community in Incheon area, only small records about their roles are shown. There was a reference that Min Kuk-Ga actively practiced his faith as a catechist only. Even though there was no detail record, but presumed that there was a faith community in the region of Incheon through Min Kuk-Ga's activity.
