    This study aims to examine location through site analysis in a multi-complex shopping mall which appears newly, breaking a traditional retail trade type.
    The location standards and detailed evaluation items of a multi-complex shopping mall were drawn based on economical characteristics and local site analysis of small cities. Location factors and the fitness of candidate site were evaluated using the AHP method.
    For relative importance of factors selected based on the location of a multi-complex shopping mall, the weight of a population factors was the highest(0.340), followed by a traffic factor(0.257), a geographic factor(0.241), and a site factor(0.162). A population factor was the most important location factor in principal trade area factors which constitute a multi-complex shopping mall.
    The results of general evaluation of 12 detailed location items suggested that the weight of road accessibility(0.130) was the most relatively important, followed by the population of core trade area(0.122), main customer in the trade area(0.188), neighboring apartments(0.101), the inhalation of metropolitan area(0.097), adjacent cities' spatial accessibility(0.095), and the development environment of subject sites(0.072).
    The fitness of location candidates for a multi-complex shopping mall was produced by combining weights of a traffic factor, a population factor, a geographic factor, and a site factor with each candidate's factor evaluation.
    The fitness of the Sindae Area(0.360) was the highest of multi-complex shopping mall candidates, followed by the Pungdeok․Odeok Area(0.283), the Gwangyang Deokrye Area(0.223), and the Yeocheon Railway Station Area(0.134). The Sindae Area showed the highest weight in all evaluation standards except that of a site factor and the highest general fitness for a multi-complex shopping mall.
