타로카드의 이미지에 관한 지각원리 고찰- 게슈탈트의 지각원리를 중심으로 = A Study on the Perception of Tarot Card Image - Focusing on Gestalt’s Perceptual Principle-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Gestalt means shape, pattern, etc., but Gestalt’s theory has a great meaning in that the whole means more than the sum of its parts. In other words, Gestalt psychology is largely based on perceptual experiments, and emphasizes the concept of “organism as a whole”, as opposed to the “atomic” construct that attempts to disassemble everything. The goal of Gestalt Counseling, therefore, is to enable one person to explore, discover, and experience his or her own appearance, behavioral patterns, and his wholeness. The end goal is to integrate all the separate parts and to realize the unexpressed self. In tarot counseling, the interpreter usually interprets the meaning of each of several selected tarot images, accompanied by the principle of perception for interpretation. Therefore, in order to judge whether the client has a ‘organic and integrated healthy perceptual cognitive system’ in recognizing several fragmented tarot pictures, I induced the test subjects to tarot interpretation from the standpoint of the six trends (Figure-ground, Figure-background, Completion, Simplification, Similarity, Proximity, Continuity). As a result, it was found that most of the test subjects were following Gestalt’s ‘Principle of Perception’ in interpreting tarot cards, but it was found some opposite cases as well. This shows that tarot cards can be meaningful as Gestalt’s psychological evaluation tool.
