다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study developed a situation-based disability awareness measurement tool to consistently measure the level of disability awareness from elementary to high school students and convert it into a standardized score, and then used it to measure and index disability awareness. To do it, the ‘Situation-based Disability Awareness Scale’ was developed through two Delphi surveys of 20 inclusive education experts, content validation, preliminary survey, and main survey. The scale was developed for elementary school students, middle and high school students, and teachers. For students, the scale consists of four constructs: perspective, knowledge, practice, and emotion, and for teachers, the remaining three items except emotion. Then, the ‘School Disability Awareness Index’ was derived from the data collected by applying it to 1169 elementary school students, 687 middle school students, 734 high school students, and 329 teachers. The average disability index score of the three groups was 59.86 out of 100. By school level, elementary school students were significantly higher than middle and high school students, and by gender, female students were higher than male students. For teachers, however, there was no difference in their background variables, including gender. When comparing across variables, both students and teachers had the highest score in the Practices construct and the lowest score in the Knowledge construct. The development of a school disability awareness index can contribute to effective education for disabilitiy awareness and policy development by assessing the current level of disability awareness in each school and identifying the weakest part.
