大韓帝國期 張志淵의 自强思想 연구 團合論을 중심으로 = On Jang Jiyun’s Jagang Theory during the Great Han Empire Period

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis is to re-examine Jang Jiyun’s Jagang(自强) theory in view of the historical context the Jagang theory developed in Korea during the Great Han empire period. Jang Jiyun, as the key journalist on the Jagang theory, persuaded Korean government to reform its administrative system, and inspired Korean people to hold together in national unity before the Russo-Japanese war. But, when the War ended up to deprive Korean government of its political independence, he could find no more hope in Korean government under the control of Japan. That’s why he changed the focus of Jagang theory from the reform of the government to the unity of people after the Russo-Japanese war. Finally, he found the way to make Korean people hold together in social groups in national unity and do public business relating to the national education and national industry. That was based on the newly formed idea of Jagang in the latter part of the Great Han empire period.
