This article examines the ethics of Confucianism and its meaning in our society today. In Korea, regionalism and authoritarianism related to the Confucian tradition still exist, and the premodern elements of the Confucian tradition are not well understood, so it is unfair to criticize traditional ideas from a modern perspective.
It is emphasized that in order to establish a plan for realizing a community pursuing Confucian communalism, there must be an organization or subject to practice. "The remaining traditions always contain critical arguments on how to better protect them." This article argues that in order to make Confucianism a living tradition and establish itself as a doctrine for the community, it must have practical implications through a fierce criticism process within the Confucian traditional group.
This article concludes that it is worthwhile to talk about the Confucian tradition in the present era, and why we constantly debate the Confucian tradition, and it is necessary to re-examine how realistic and persuasive previous answers were.
