인간화를 위한 교회의 교육적 사명 : Letty M. Russell의 이론을 중심으로 하여

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문에서는 1960년대 이후, 교육 신학의 부재상황에 새로운 가능성을 제안하고 있는 Letty M. Russell의 기독교 교육 이론을 한국 교회에 적용시켜, 인간화를 위한 교회의 교육적 사명을 모색해 보고자 한다.
Russell의 기독교 교육 이론은 새로운 교회관을 전제로 하고 있기 때문에 교회관에 대한 이해를 새롭게 할 필요가 있다. 먼저 성서에 입각한 교회의 본질과 기본적인 사명을 살펴본 후, 전통적인 교회가 오늘의 사회 변화 속에서 취하고 있는 태도를 비판하면서, 새로운 교회관을 대두케 한 “하나님의 선교”(Missio Dei)신학을 볼 것 이다. “하나님의 선교”신학은 세계와 교회의 관계를 새롭게 모색하고, 교회는 세계를 변화시키기 위해 하나님의 선교에 참여할 것을 촉구하며, “인간화”를 목표로 삼고 있기 때문에 전통교회는 이것을 위한 교회구조로 갱신되어야 한다고 주장한다.
Russell은 “하나님의 선교” 신학에서 말하는 “인간화”라는 차원을 기독교 교육이라는 실천의 장에 도입하여 기독교 교육에 새로운 가능성을 제시해 주고 있다. Russell은 기독교 교육을 참인간성을 회복하시려는 하나님의 선교 사명에 자발적으로 기쁘게 참여하는 것이라고 하면서, 기독교 교육이 일어나는 장은 증인 공동체로 이것을 가능케 하는 교육방법은 대화에의 참여이고 하나님의 초청에 기쁨으로 참여하는 것을 교육의 목적이라 한다.
Russell의 이론을 한국 교회에 적용하기 위해 먼저 Russell이론의 공헌점과 문제점 및 한계점을 살펴본 후, 인간성 회복을 위한 교회교육을 모색해 보기로 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis makes a subject of finding an educational duty of church for "humanization", on the basis of the Christian Education theory of Letty M. Russell.
Today, church is under the period of scientific and technological revolution, which makes a human overwhelmed and threatened in all the area, not only war but also policy, economy, culture, and etc. What is worse, these condition reduced the purpose, the content, the method and the context of Christian education thrown into confusion even in the meaning and the base.
However, Letty M. Russell suggestes new possibility in the absence of educational theology after 1960s. As her educational theory is based on the new view of church, it is necessary to renew the view of church.
First, the essence and the basic mission of the church are examined and is followed by the theology of "Missio Dei", which criticizes the traditional church and proposes new relation between the world and the church, and urges the church to participate in the mission of God for changing the world. Besides "Missio Dei" theology insistes that the traditional church be renewed into the context of "humanization" because it is the purpose of "Missio Dei".
Russell introduces "humanization", which is aimed by "Missio Dei" theology, into the context of Christian Education. According to her theory, Christian education makes an object to participate in the mission of God joyful1y in order to recover the real humanity. Christian education is realized in the context of "Witnessing Comuity" by the method, participating in dialogue.
Though Russell's theory has many contributions, it is sure that there are many problems in applying it to Korean church. However, "the church needs to be renewed for preaching and realizing the truth in the new area.
If church education is changed into the structure for "humanization", it should be specialized in Sunday school education add Laity education.
