The purpose of this study was to analyze seven qualitative studies on the self-reliance of out-of-home youth using qualitative meta-analysis, and to derive new meanings and concepts of self-reliance based on them. From an integrated perspective, the self-reliance of out-of-home youth was categorized into psychological, emotional and behavioral, academic and career, and life areas, and the positive and negative experiences of each domain were analyzed in depth. As a result of the study, the self-reliance of out-of-home youth followed a negative cycle structure that started with psychological anxiety, living burden, academic and career delay, economic and housing instability, and social isolation. However, individual strong will and social support around them were key factors breaking the negative cycle. As an extended concept derived using qualitative meta-analysis, the self-reliance of out-of-home youth was defined as 'the process of overcoming negative psychological and emotional states and economic vicious cycles experienced while sustaining one’s livelihood without support from the family of origin, through strong will, and moving forward to the next stage'. Finally, based on these results, it was suggested to establish an advanced psychological support system, introducing self-reliance-based internships, strengthen integrated follow-up management and network, eliminate social stigma and create an inclusive culture, and integrate and streamline the dualized support system.
