      This study focuses on analyzing the cases of battery and plastic remanufacturing within the European Union (EU)’s circular economy strategy to identify sustainable resource management directions and policy implications. Circular economy, as an economic model aimed at maximizing resource efficiency, minimizing waste generation, and enhancing economic and environmental sustainability, is a central component of various policies and legal frameworks in the EU. This research examines how the EU's circular economy initiatives contribute to resource circulation, waste reduction, economic value creation, and environmental protection through remanufacturing practices.
      Specifically, the study highlights EU battery remanufacturing as a successful application of resource recovery, reuse, carbon emission reduction, and technological innovation in resource circulation. Plastic remanufacturing demonstrates the EU’s comprehensive legal and institutional approach to increasing recycling rates and addressing the environmental and economic challenges of plastic waste management. These cases provide significant insights for designing sustainable circular economy policies, particularly for countries such as South Korea.
      By conducting an in-depth examination of the EU's circular economy theories and policy cases, this research contributes to academic discourse and explores policy alternatives for promoting remanufacturing, especially in the battery and plastic sectors. Ultimately, this study aims to provide a theoretical and empirical foundation for sustainable development, serving as a basis for future research and policy development.
