Research on carrots has been carried out at the Uzbek Research Institute of Plant Industry(UzRIPI). On the basis of study of carrot collection a new initial material has been recommended for breeding. The collected accessions on economically valuable traits, inbreeding lines and poly-cross hybrids with high general combinative ability (GCA) on the productivity and the root chemical composition have been revealed and the perspective of local variety use as parents in hybridization has been proved. The new scientific data on a degree of self-incompatibility and also manifestation of CMS in local varieties of the Asian carrot have been obtained. Seed productivity has been determined and the best carrot varieties for cultivation have been recommended.
