    Climate Change Impacts onTourism Management in Korea

    Based on the climate project technique called PRISM(Parameter-elevatio Regressions on Independent Slopes Model), climate projection is calculated based on the IPCC A1B scenario and panel data analysis is conducted to explore climate change impacts on the tourism demand in Korea. The elasticity of tourism demand in terms of the travel cost, exchange rate, and GDP shows 1.15, 7.03, and 0.58, respectively. Evidences shows that precipitation increased in China makes tourists forward to Korea. If there are some extreme weather events monitored in Korea, Chinese tourist seems to be more sensitive in rain rather that to heat wave. Findings clearly indicate that economic factors are the significant demand shifter rather than any other weather factors. Regarding to these, tourism policies and management schemes should be more cautious to implement in the business sector. However, these findings are limited and need more science based research.
