Gangjeong, located in Jeju Island, has a lot of water, so much so that it can be expressed as a river, and there are various water cultural landscapes related to it. Examples include the Golse(Golsae, Mahlcheon) that still flows through the center of the village and the spring waters that still remains around it, as well as the now disappeared rice farming landscape and watermill. In order to apply these evolution in the water cultural landscapes of Jeju Island Gangjeong to geography learning, the value of the water cultural landscape of Gangjeong was identified and geographical fieldwork class plans were explored centered on the living spaces of elementary school students. The geographical fieldwork set up a field trip course by connecting major locations and organized a 7-hour ‘Our Village Treasure Hunt’ project learning program for 3rd grade elementary school students. Through this study, I hope to provide an opportunity to reflect on the cultural historical geography significance of the water cultural landscape of Gangjeong in Jeju and to utilize it in elementary social studies classes or fieldwork in the future.
