다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

This paper aims to elaborate semantic descriptions on the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, and clarify the differences between this construction and its relatives, that is, ‘mos’, a negative adverb, and the ‘-ul jwul moru-’ construction.
The ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction has three distinctive senses: wanting of the participant’s ability (Inability), wanting of valid circumstances (Forbiddenness), and wanting of the proposition’s realizableness (Unrealizableness).
Inability could be a permanent one, a property of the entity in question (Entity Level Inability), or a relatively temporal one, happening at a specific situation (Situation Level Inability). Entity Level Inability can be expressed with the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, the adverb ‘mos’, and the ‘-ul jwul moru-’ construction. Of them, the ‘-ul jwul moru-’ construction expresses the Inability caused by ignorance, lack of know-how on the given matter; the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction expresses Inability without considering whether having the know-how or not; the adverb ‘mos’ has both senses.
Situation Level Inability can be expressed only with the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, and the adverb ‘mos’; the ‘-ul jwul moru-’ construction can not be used to express Situation Level Inability.
Forbiddenness could be brought about by what should be (Should-Be Forbiddenness), as social norms, or else (Non Should-Be Forbiddenness). Non Should-Be Forbiddenness can be expressed with the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, the adverb ‘mos’, and the ‘-ki eryep-’ construction: while the adverb ‘mos’ expresses Forbiddenness despite the participant’s willingness, the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction expresses Forbiddenness objectively without considering whether the participant has willingness or not.
Should-Be Forbiddenness can be expressed with the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, the adverb ‘mos’, and the ‘-myen an doy-’ construction: as it has been above, while the adverb ‘mos’ expresses Forbiddenness despite the participant’s willingness, the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction expresses Forbiddenness objectively based on social norms or logical reasonings.
Unrealizableness could be expressed by the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction, or the ‘-ul li eps-’ construction. The two are of synonymous relation. When the ‘-ul swu eps-’ construction is used to express Unrealizableness, other than the Unrealizableness meaning, the expression also delivers the assumed evidential meaning(the assumption is based on general knowledge).
