≪오월춘추(吳越春秋)≫에 나타난 신화(神話) 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 사서(史書)로 알려진 ‘≪오월춘추(吳越春秋)≫’ 속에 나타난 신화(神話)들을 분석해 봄으로써, 작자가 역사를 서술하려는 의도보다는 역사 서술이란 형식을 빌어 작품을 소설화(小說化)하려 했다는 증좌들을 찾아내, 그 가치를 평가해보려는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 통해 본 전적(典籍)을 사실상 초보적 수준 내지 그 이상의 의미를 지닌 소설문학(小說文學)으로 인정할 수 있는 근거를 마련해 보고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구자는 작품에 내재된 신화들을 찾아내 검토하여 소설로서의 가능성을 탐구하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다.
첫째, 오월춘추에는 많은 양의 신화들이 내재되어 있었다. 그 신화의 유형은 감생신화(感生神話), 치수신화(治水神話), 주검신화(鑄劍神話), 영웅신화, 곤륜신화(崑崙神話), 백원신화(白猿神話), 조전신화(鳥田神話) 등이 발견되었다.
둘째, 이들 신화들은 기본적으로 신괴하고 기이한 이미지를 갖고 있었고 고대 지괴소설적인 면모를 내포하고 있었다.
셋째, 오월춘추는 사실에 기초하는 역사서라기 보다 소설의 본질이라고 할 수 있는 허구적이고 상상적인 내용이 많았는데, 특히 신화기술을 통해 이를 확인할 수도 있었다.
넷째, 작자는 신화의 기술을 통해 사회의 보편적 인식이나 가치체계를 자신 혹은 그가 몸담았던 지식인 계층의 사고를 대변하는 작자의식을 드러내었는데, 이는 이야기를 꾸미는 과정에서의 소설가적 작가의식을 발휘한 것이었다.
다섯째, 오월춘추에 삽입된 신화는 전체 이야기를 구성하고 이끌어가는 기능을 담당하고 있어, 단순 신화기술이 아닌 이야기 진행의 한 방법이었다.
이상의 결론들을 얻어내어 오월춘추는 역사서라기 보다는 소설서에 더욱 가깝다는 평가를 내릴 수 있게 되었다. 이는 오월춘추가 중국소설사에 새로운 자리를 차지할 수 있다는 여지를 제공하게 되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to aim at making it clear that ≪Wu-Yue Chunqiu≫ is a a historical novel actually though it is been thought as a history book by many scholars. So, going through mythical analysis I tried to find fictional elements and the traces of novelization attempted by author in many places. And therethrough I wanted to acknowledge value of the book in Chinese history of novel.
As a result of study, I found some kind facts.
First, There are many myths in ≪Wu-Yue Chunqiu≫. For example, myth of birth, water management myth, making sword myth, hero myth, and so on.
Second, To use myths increased a queer image of the book. It made us think that ≪Wu-Yue Chunqiu≫ is nearer historical novel than history book.
Third, ≪Wu-Yue Chunqiu≫ has many fictional, imaginational stories that is often thought as a essence of novel.
Forth, The talent of novelist and writer's consciousness standed out through mythical description. It is different from historical description that set store by facts.
Fifth, I found that mythical descriptions have force that lead a story. That is to say, myths were used as a method of novel.
In conclusion, by showing sufficient evidences of novel, I tried to make it clear that ≪Wu-Yue Chunqiu≫ is a rudimentary (or advanced than rudimentary level) historical nove
