ABSTRACT: This study analyzed the differences in life satisfaction based on dog ownership and the demographic characteristics of dog owners. The study utilized data from the 2023 Daejeon Metropolitan Social Survey. Using SPSS 27.0, independent t-test and one-way ANOVA were conducted to examine the differences. Results showed dog owners had higher leisure and job satisfaction but lower family satisfaction. Female owners had higher leisure, residential, and family satisfaction, while male owners had higher time satisfaction. Younger owners reported greater life and time satisfaction, while older owners had higher residential and family satisfaction. Higher education and income levels correlated with greater life, time, and job satisfaction. However, lower-educated and low-income owners showed higher residential and family satisfaction, suggesting dogs provide emotional and social support. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of companion dog owners' life satisfaction, offering foundational data for policy development aimed at supporting companion animal owners.
