미술치료에서 이미지의 인지적 기능과 그 치료적 측면에 관한 연구 : 콜라주 인터뷰 분석을 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 콜라주 인터뷰 분석을 중심으로 최근에 새롭게 관심을 끌고 있는 이미지의 인지적 기능에 대하여 살펴보았다. 우선 이미지가 어떤 인지적 기능을 수행하는지에 대한 이론적 논의를 위해 기존의 미학 연구, 예술심리학 연구 그리고 최근에 새롭게 떠오르고 있는 예술기반 연구 또는 이미지 기반 연구를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그 후 이와 같은 이미지의 인지적 기능이 실제 미술치료에서 구체적으로 어떻게 나타나는지를 알아보기 위해 콜라주 미술치료 사례를 분석하고, 이미지의 인지적 기능이 미술의 치료적 효과와 어떤 관련이 있는지를 살펴보았다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 이미지는 표현하도록 하는 기능을 수행한다. 둘째로, 이미지는 대화를 촉발하고 재구성하는 기능을 한다. 셋째로, 이미지는 새로운 방식으로 사물에 주의를 기울이게 한다. 넷째로, 이미지는 활성화하는 기능을 한다. 마지막으로 이미지는 공감적 이해를 촉진하는 기능을 한다. 미술치료에서 이미지의 인지적 기능에 대한 논의는 미술의 치료적 효과를 더욱 설득력 있게 주장할 수 있는 이론적 기초를 제공하고, 심리치료와 차별화할 수 있는 미술의 치료적 측면을 제공함으로써 미술치료의 학문적 정체성을 더욱 강화하는 데 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis investigated the cognitive functions of images which is newly attracting attention these days, focused on collage interview analysis. For theoretical discussion on which cognitive functions images can have, existing studies on aesthetics, psychology of art, and the recently emerging art-based research or image-based research were examined. Then, to look into the specific appearances of these cognitive functions in art therapy, collage art therapy cases were analyzed and the relations of the cognitive functions of images with the therapeutic effects of art were explored. The findings from this thesis are as follows: Firstly, images could be used to facilitate expressions. Secondly, images could be used to evoke and reconstruct dialogues. Thirdly, images make people pay attention to things in new ways. Fourthly, the function of activation could be performed through images. Finally, images could enhance empathetic understanding. Discussion on the cognitive functions of images in art therapy will greatly contribute to the reinforcement of the academic identity of art therapy by providing the theoretical basis for more persuasive arguments about the therapeutic effects of art and also by presenting the therapeutic aspects of art therapy that are differentiated from psychotherapy.
