This article examines yeonhaengnok which was written by Hwang Jae (黃梓). Hwang Jae went to Beijing in 1734(甲寅Gabinn) and 1750(庚午 Gyeongo), he wrote two books, Gabinn-yeonhaengnok (『甲寅燕行錄』)과 Gyeongo-yeonhaengnok(『庚午燕行錄』). These are among the collected works of Hwang Jae, Piruijaeyugo(『畢依齋遺稿』) which is possessed by Toyo Bunko(東洋文庫) in Tokyo. This paper principally traces Hwang Jae`s biography and deals with two yeonhaengnok. This paper aims to study Hwang Jae`s views on the situation of China during the Yongzheng and Qianlong Period. He was very interested in the emperor of china, so he compared the governing of Kangxi(康熙), Yongzheng(雍正) and Qianlong(乾隆) and evaluated them. Hwang Jae observed Han chinese, Manchu people and Mongols who were consisted of Qing. He had a very positive thought of Manch people, it was similar to his friend Kim Changeop(金昌業). It means Hwang Jae was influenced by Kim Changeop`s Yeonhaeng-ilgi『燕行日記』. On the other hand, he did not showed an interest in Western learning such as Catholic Church. There is a broad distinction between Hwang Jae and Hong Daeyong(洪大容). We can assume the views on the situation of China in the middle of the 18th century through Hwang Jae`s two yeonhaengnok.
