신종 감염병 백신 접종에 대한 주관성 연구: 코로나19 이후의 감염병 예방을 위한 커뮤니케이션 전략 = Subjectivity of Post COVID-19 Infectious Diseases Vaccination: A Q-methodology Approach

While vaccines play a critical role in the control of infectious diseases and disease outbreaks, public concerns about the safety, efficacy, and side effects of a vaccine has been increasing, resulting in vaccine hesitancy or refusal. Being unvaccinated poses a threat to all exposed and can prolong the pandemic. By using Q-methodology, this study identified the subjectivity of adults towards post COVID-19 emerging infectious diseases vaccination. The results revealed four discrete groups of vaccination: Type 1-Accountability; Type 2-Hesitancy; Type 3-Refusal for Valid Reasons; Type 4-Conditional Acceptance. Types 2 and 4 are hesitant about vaccination, and have potentials to positively change their intentions of vaccination if appropriate public health interventions are provided. For this, consistent education on vaccine safety, efficacy, side effects and the role of a vaccine in disease prevention (type 2) and information on public health system and vaccine accessibility (type 4) through public health campaign may help promote their vaccination intentions. Theoretical and practical implications for each type are discussed with the suggestions of communication strategies to promote vaccine uptake.
