다산 예학의 학문적 위상 -『상례사전』을 중심으로-

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 다산 예학의 학문적 위상을 『상례사전』을 중심으로 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 『상례사전』은 다산의 경학연구에서 매우 중요한 위상을 지닌다. 다산은 예치시스템의 확보를 위해 가장 먼저 고례를 확보해야 했고, 그것의 산물이 바로 『상례사전』이다. 물론 『상례사전』이 사례(士禮)를 다룬 것이기는 하지만, 그것으로 그치는 것이 아니라, 그것을 토대로 공(公)·경(卿)·대부(大夫)는 물론, 왕조의 의례(儀禮)를 마련하고 있기 때문이다.
다산의 경학연구는 경세학저술의 토대가 되며, 그렇게 작성된 일표이서(一表二書)는 다산이 구상한 예치시스템의 결실이라는 점에서 의미있는 작품이라고 할 수 있다. 그리고 그 배경에는 앞서 언급한 것처럼 『상례사전』이 자리하고 있고, 『상례사전』은 다산의 경학저술과 경세학 저술의 토대가 된다는 점에서 매우 의미 있는 작품이라고 할 수 있다.
다산의 경학연구는 주희의 사서삼경중심의 학문체계를 육경사서중심으로 재편한다는 점에서 조선후기 지식인들의 그것과는 결을 달리한다. 그리고 이러한 학문체계의 변화는 사사집주와 삼경집전을 중심으로 한 경학연구의 흐름을 십삼경주소를 중심으로 재해석하고 재편하는 데에서 나타난 것이라고 할 수 있다. 조금 과도하게 해석하자면, 성리학 중심의 학문체계를 고증학중심의 그것으로 재편한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 다시 말해, 이것은 수양론(修養論) 중심의 세계관을 행사론(行事論) 중심의 그것으로 바꾼 것이라고 할 수도 있다.
요컨대, 다산의 『상례사전』은 경학연구의 시작점인 동시에 『경세유표』를 비롯한 일표이서의 경세학저술의 학문적 토대가 되는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 다산이 구상한 예치시스템의 기반이 바로 『상례사전』이라고 할 수 있다는 것이다. 가례를 비롯하여 향례와 방례를 아우르는 다산의 예치시스템을 위해 고제(古制)의 확보는 대단히 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 고제를 확보하고 난 뒤에 현행제도인 금제(今制)를 참작하여 새로운 제도인 신제(新制)를 구성할 수 있게 된 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper intended to look at the status of Dasan’s rituals focused on the funeral rites four recording paper. This book has a very important status in his study of confucian classics. Dasan had to be the first to secure rite-governed system, and its products were the funeral rites four recording paper. Of course, although this book deals with cases, it does not end up as a mere example, but it is based on the fact that it is preparing rituals for the dynasty as well as family rituals, village rituals, nation rituals and so on.
Dasan’s study of confucian classics is the basis of the books on statecraft learning and is meaningful in that it is the fruit of the rite-governed system envisioned by Dasan. And, as mentioned earlier, the funeral rites four recording paper is a very meaningful work in that it forms the basis of confucian classics and statecraft learning.
The study on confucian classics by Dasan is inconsistent with that of intellectuals in the late Joseon Dynasty in that it reorganizes Zhu-xi’s academic system centered on the history of four books and three classics. And this change in the academic system was reflected in the reinterpretation and reorganization of the current of the light-school study centered on four books and three classics. In other words, this is a shift from four books and three classics to six classics and four books.
In short, Dasan’s the funeral rites four recording paper is the starting point of the study and also the basis of the academic literature of the rite-governed system, including the funeral rites four recording paper. Dasan’s planned rite-governed system is based on the precedent. Securing the ancient system is of great significance for the rite-governed system, which encompasses rituals, ceremonies, and methods, including examples. After securing tthe ancient system, the government took into account the current system, allowing the formation of a new system.
