      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study provides a systematic analysis of the contributions made by the academic journal Dongyanghak(東洋學) to the establishment and development of Chinese character lexicography in Korea. It focuses in particular on how the journal’s major research findings have served as both theoretical foundations and practical methodologies for dictionary compilation in the era of digital transformation. To this end, the paper examines key articles published in Dongyanghak(東洋學) that are directly or indirectly related to the compilation of major works such as the Han-Han Grand Dictionary(漢韓大辭典), the Dictionary of Sino-Korean Words(韓國漢字語辭典), the Dictionary of Korean Chinese Characters(韓國漢字字典), and the Idu Dictionary(吏讀辭典). It analyzes how these studies have influenced dictionary planning with regard to Chinese character notation, vocabulary categorization, and structural design.
Particular attention is paid to research conducted since the 2010s on digital lexicography, including the development and public release of the ‘Korean Chinese Character Integrated Search System’ in 2025. These cases illustrate how traditional approaches to Chinese character lexicography have been effectively integrated with digital tools and methodologies. The findings demonstrate that Dongyanghak(東洋學) has functioned not only as a venue for scholarly discourse, but also as a leading platform guiding the conceptual design and practical realization of Korean digital dictionaries for Chinese characters.
Ultimately, this paper aims to assess the academic and institutional roles Dongyanghak(東洋學) may continue to play in advancing the theoretical sophistication, methodological innovation, and internationalization of Chinese character lexicography in Korea.
