Examining the Relationship Between Constraints and Leisure Gardening Participation = 여가제약과 원예참여의 관계 분석

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 여가제약이 55세 이상의 노인의 원예참여에 미치는 영향에 관한 것이다. 여가제약은 활동분야에 따라 다르게 지각될 수 있다는 가정 하에 본 연구는 일반적 여가범주가 아닌 원예라는 신체적 여가활동에 초점을 맞춰 (l) 제약요인이 어떤 것이 있는지, (2) 사회인구학적 특성이 여가제약과 관련이 있는지, (3) 제약요인이 원예활동 참여에 영향을 미치는지에 중점을 두어 조사되었다. 본 연구는 편의표집방법(Convenience Sampling Method)을 이용하여 미 북펜실베니아 지역에 거주하는 55세 이상의 노인 183명의 자료로 분석을 수행하였다. 본 연구는 Crawford, Jackson, 그리고 Godbey(1991)의 여가제약모델을 기초로 하여 원예활동을 참여하는데 있어 5가지 제약요인을 추출하였으며, 하위요인을 심리, 시간, 시설/개인, 접근성, 파트너로 명명하였다. 이러한 5개 요인들은 Crawford와 연구자들이 제시한 내재적제약, 구조적제약, 대인적제약 요인으로 구분될 수 있음을 제시한다. 사회인구학적 특성 중 성별에 있어서, 남자가 여자보다 접근성에 있어 여가제약을 많이 느끼며, 76세 이상의 노인이 55-65세의 노인보다 심리 제약을 더 많이 나타냈다. 또한 과부/홀아비가 배우자가 있는 노인들보다 심리, 시설/개인 요인에서 더 많은 제약을 나타냈다. 그리고 장애를 가지고 있는 노인이 직장노인보다 시설/개인 요인에서 여가제약을 더 인지한다고 나타났다. 마지막으로 심리, 접근성 제약요인이 여가원예활동 참여에 영향을 준다고 나타냈다. 즉, 제약이 많을수록 노인들의 원예활동 참여는 감소함을 살펴볼 수 있다.
