1920~30년대 동요에 나타난 '누나'의 이미지 = The Image of "Sister" on Mordern Korean Children's Song

국문 초록 (Abstract)

동요는 어린 시절을 추억하게 하는 짧고 단순한 노래 정도로 알려져 있다. 그러나 현재까지 어린이는 물론 성인의 가슴에 남아있는 노래는 주로 1920~30년대에 걸쳐 집중적으로 창작된 작품들이며, 이들 노래는 아이들의 세계와 심성을 담고 있다는 기본적인 개념을 넘어서서 '근대'와 '일제 강점기'라는 시대적 의미를 강하게 나타내고 있다. 이 논문은 1920~30년대 이른바 '동요 황금시대'에 창작된 동요 가운데 '누나'의 이미지를 담고 있는 노래들이 상당수 등장하고 있다는 점에 착안하여, 당대의 동요에서 '누나'의 이미지는 어떻게 나타나고 있는지, '누나' 이미지가 다수 채용된 까닭은 무엇인지, '누나' 이미지의 노래가 등장했던 당시의 시대적 배경은 무엇인지, 흔히 논의되는 '누이 콤플렉스'와는 어떤 관련을 맺고 있는지 밝혀보고자 하였다. 그 결과 당대의 동요에서는 어린 동생들을 돌보다가 멀리 시집을 가게 되는 일상적인 모습의 누나, 직업전선에 뛰어드는 모습을 통해 당대 현실에 대한 비판을 보여주는 누나, 누나이기보다는 여자로서 봄, 젊음, 청춘의 상징을 나타내는 누나 등의 구체적 양상을 발견할 수 있었다. 손위 누나를 사랑하고 그리워하는 나이 어린 남동생의 모습을 통해 동심의 순수함을 드러내려는 의도는 오빠의 입장에서 손아래 누이동생을 바라보는 누이의 양상과는 차이를 지닌다는 점 역시 밝혔다. 이와 같은 누나 이미지는 첫째, 순수한 어린아이의 세계를 통해 당대 현실의 구체적 어려움을 극복해낼 수 있는 정서적 공간을 확보한다는 의미가 있다. 둘째, 당대 누나 이미지는 대리모성의 충족감을 상징하는 의미가 강하며, 이 같은 양상은 특히 신여성에 대한 시선이 바뀌는 1930년대에 부각된다는 점 역시 동요가 가지는 의미로서 주목할 만하다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this thesis, I have intended to examine the characteristics of children's song in Japanese Colonial Period especially through the image of "sister". children's song was just a simple childish little song but a complicated stylish and with its own aesthetics. Modern children's song were created and enjoyed popularly in 1920~1920. There were some reasons. First, in those times children's songs were sung in the name of national movement among young people, so there were usually national consciousness in them. Second, children's songs were made of lyrics and music which was transmitted from generation to generation. Third, children's songs appealed to people's heart which was broken by japanese colonial period.
I found that 'sister' image of children's song in 1920~1930 is 1)image of usual life: sister who took care of her little brothers, got married and left home, never came back. 2)image of criticizing the reality: sister who worked in the factory 3)image of youth: sister who is young and beautiful. Those images represent the agony of Japanese colonial period through the simple and innocent mind of children. They are also represent the motherhood which was opposed to "new-style" woman of the 1930s. This thesis would be meaningful because children's songs were analyzed on the psychoanalysis and the spirit of the times. So, children's song in 1920~30 is worthy in history of Korean literature as well as in history of children's literature.
