The Catholic Church in Korea played a positive role in the development of democracy. At the center is Cardinal Stephen Kim Sou-hwan. He laid down the religious infrastructure necessary for national reconciliation, harmony, peace and unification. Cardinal Kims interest covered the underprivileged, including workers, urban poor, prostitutes, single mothers, migrant workers, disabled people, young people and North Korean defectors. In addition, Cardinal Kim was the most faithful practitioner of the Second Vatican Council. Democratization was also in line with Catholic social thought, the concept of the Catholic-accepted common good, and the spirit of the Second Vatican Council. Cardinal Kims every move has become a world-famous quote and model example that exemplifies the faith he practices. The love and prayer of repentance is the greatest strategy of national evangelization and unification. Throughout the long journey to a unified Korea, we will find Kim Sou-hwan.
