한⋅미 FTA와 미국의 한국전략에 관한 연구 = A Study on Korea-U.S. FTA and U.S. Strategy Toward Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

최근까지 미국이 체결한 FTA는 경제적 측면보다 정치적 목적이 강하다.
이 중에서 경제적 목적이 강한 FTA는 1994년 캐나다, 멕시코와의 사이에서 체결한 NAFTA이며, 2012년 3월 발효된 한미 FTA는 NAFTA를 제외하고는 경제적 효과가 가장 클 것으로 평가 되고 있다.
한국의 주력 대미 수출품은 자동차, 무선통신기기, 가전제품 등에 집중되어 있는 바, 한국은 아시아 태평양 역내에서 큰 영향력을 가진 미국이라는 동맹국과의 관계를 중시하면서 중국과의 관계를 추진해야 한다는 어려운 입장에 있다.
이러한 점에서 현안 과제인 한중일 FTA, 한중 FTA 추진에 대해서는 보다 신중하고 전략적인 접근이 요구된다.
이상과 같은 기존의 문제를 바탕으로 미국 입장에서 한미 FTA의 주요 목적이 무엇이며, 한국에 대한 미국의 전략을 명확하게
분석하고, 한미FTA 체결 이후 한국의 대응에 대해 알아본다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Up to recently, the FTA that United States contracted has more political purpose than economic aspects. The most economical FTA is the NAFTA contracted between Canada and Mexico in 1994, and is estimated to have the most economic effect with the exception of the Korea-USA FTA took effect in March 2012.
Since the Korea’s main export to America is focused on automobiles, wireless communication devices, and home appliances, Korea is in a difficult situation in need of caring relationship with America which has powerful effect in Asia-Pacific and with China at the same time.
In this regard, more carefulness and strategic approach is required about pending issue of pushing forward the Korea-China-Japan FTA and the Korea-China FTA.
As mentioned above, this study will investigate what is the Korea-USA FTA’s main purpose on USA’s position, analyze USA’s strategy for Korea precisely, and recognize Korea’s response after contracting the Korea-USA FTA on the basis of existing problem.
