전문계 및 일반계 고교생의 기초학습능력 수준과 영향변인 = The Basic Learning Ability of Vocational & General High School Students and Its Related Variables

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to explore the variables related to student and school affecting the basic learning ability of vocational and general high school students. In order to achieve the purpose, 2-level and hierachical multivariate linear model was employed to analyze data collected from 760 students in 26 vocational high school, 756 students in 25 general high school, and 51 homeroom teachers.
The following conclusions were drawn from this study. The middle school records of vocational school students were lower level than those of general high school students, but there was no significant difference of the basic learning ability in high school. The results from hierachical linear model analysis showed that the basic learning ability of general high school students were affected with their family factors and learning properties including middle school records, but that of vocational high school students were mostly affected with factors related to school education rather than student or family factors. This results implied that, for vocational high school students, the scarce basic learning ability resulting from learning failure could be overcome through proper education during high school course. Based on this conclusion, some recommendations were suggested for quality improvement of vocational high school education, research on interaction between student and school level variables affecting the basic learning ability, and research on determination of quantiles corresponding to the basic learning ability distribution and examination of predictive variables in each quantile.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 전문계 고교생과 일반계 고교생의 기초학습능력 수준에 영향을 미치는 개인 및 학교 관련 변인을 구명하는데 있었다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 26개 전문계 고교 학생 760명, 25개 일반계 고교 학생 756명, 그리고 학생의 담임교사 51명으로부터 수집한 자료를 위계선형모형을 통해 분석하였다.
분석결과, 전문계 고교생의 중학교 성적은 일반계 고교생에 비해 낮은 수준이었지만 고등학교 입학 이후 기초학습능력이 일반계 고교생과 거의 비슷한 수준을 지니고 있었다. 고교생의 기초학습능력과 학생 및 학교 관련 변인의 관계를 학교계열별로 위계선형모형을 통해 분석한 결과 일반계 고교생의 경우 중학교 내신성적을 비롯한 학생의 학습특성 및 가정의 교육환경이 기초학습능력 수준 차이를 대부분 설명하고 있었다. 그러나 전문계 고교생의 경우는 중학교 내신성적이나 학생의 학습특성 또는 가정의 교육환경보다는 학교의 교육활동이 주로 기초학습능력 수준 차이를 설명하고 있었다. 이는 결국 전문계 고교생의 경우 중학교 시절의 학업실패 경험으로 인한 기초학습능력 부진을 고교 교육을 통해 극복할 수 있다는 점을 시사하고 있었다. 이러한 결과에 터해 학생의 기초학습능력 향상을 위한 전문계 고교 교육 개선, 기초학습능력 관련 학생변인과 학교변인의 상호관계 연구, 그리고 구간별 기초학습능력 수준에 따른 관련변인과의 관계 연구 등에 대해 제언하였다.
