The purpose of this study is to explore the parenting experiences of Vietnamese marriage immigrants of each family type and explore the meaning of those parenting experiences. Therefore, we have collected the data from 8 Vietnamese marriage immigrant women, which have been divided into 4 family types in Incheon, South Korea. In the way of in-depth interview, we have conducted an analysis by using Colaizzi`s(1978) methodology. The research has been executed from July 2013 to May 2014. All interviewees have been interviewed face-to-face individually. These interviews have been carried out in three times and separated by one hour one time. There are four common family types of Vietnamese marriage migrants in South Korea. (1) single parent family because of divorce and the woman has custody of children; (2) nuclear family with parents and their children; (3) extended family composed of parents, parents in law and their children; (4) extended family consisting of parents, children and aunts or grandmothers invited to care children. For most of Vietnamese marriage migrants, especially the women group, one the one hand, it is vital for them to have a good understanding of South Korea culture and education; on the other hand, our society also has the responsibility to diffuse the multi-culture of Vietnamese. Particularly, living together with their parents-in-law, Vietnamese women always have a lot of communication barriers to understand traditional Korean family culture and the promotion of relationship. We consider that it is necessary to establish some supplement system for these multi-cultural families. Therefore, the most important part is to set up their proper social network.
