The purpose of this paper is to explore on a master teacher identity. Master teacher policy has been contributed to the new policy regarding improving professional teacher level in Korea. This case study examined life and work experiences of master teachers in elementary and middle school. Data collection were documents, open-ended questionnaires, and interviews. Data analyzed throughout autobiographical lens by Pinar. Findings reveal that master teacher created 1) self-lens, 2) self-rewarding and loneliness, and 3) dilemma of education and maintenance. This study has endeavored to understand the life and work by master teacher identity.
