One of the rising problems in the field of environmental engineering is theeutrophic phenomena which appears in the closed water area.
This study is for the elimination of orthophosphate by adsorption, which is indispensible nutritive element for eutrophication.
Zirconium(Ⅵ) oxide hydrate, which have excellent adsorptivity for orthophosphate and are easily reused after desorption process, are manufactured and employed as adsorbent.
The main prupose of this study is to obtain the optimum operational condition and basic data for the design of adsorption column in the case of adsorptive removal of orthophosphate.
The experimental results were as follows.
1. Zirconium(Ⅵ) oxide hydrate employed as adsorbent has excellent adsorptivity for orthophosphate.
2. Optimum PH which gives maximum adsorption of orthophosphate is PH=3 and equilibrium adsorption shows good consistency with Freundlich type adsorption.
3. Pore diffusivities and surface diffusivities obtained from the kinetic experiments of batch adsorption are listed in Table 2.
