In this paper, we propose an Over-The-Air (OTA) technology to update the audio source of electric two-wheelers using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication. With advancements in Internet of Things (IoT) technology, vehicle systems can now connect to networks for better management and control. BLE technology, as part of this trend, is characterized by low power consumption and fast connectivity, making it well-suited for application in electric two-wheelers, which have relatively smaller battery capacities. By integrating BLE with the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) of electric twowheelers, wireless connections between the VCU and external devices such as smartphones have become possible, enabling remote monitoring, diagnostics, and OTA software updates. Furthermore, this integration allows users to customize vehicle sounds and ambiance according to their preferences, providing a unique and personalized experience. We analyzed the existing process of updating the VCU software using CAN communication and designed a BLE-based OTA audio update protocol. Additionally, we developed a smartphone app for users to select and update audio files via BLE. Our work establishes BLEbased OTA update capabilities and we plan to enhance our system’s robustness by thoroughly considering various abnormal cases during updates.
