This study is to find out what about the level of mothers' satisfaction with their role and what are the related variables in this country and to search for ways for the satisfying role of mother. The specific missions are;
1. What about the role conflicts and response behaviors of employed, married women and the general trends of social support?
2. What are the factors affecting the level of mothers' satisfaction with their role?
2-1. How do personal factors(educational background, income, number of children, family type, working time, flexibility in working and employment motive) of employed, married women affect the level of their satisfaction with the role as mother?
2-2. How do awareness factors(awareness level of time conflict, awareness level of tension conflict and awareness level of social support) of employed, married women affect the level of their satisfaction with the role as mother?
2-3. How do response behavior factors(regulation of expectation level, organization of work, receiving support and redefinition of a role) of employed, married women affect the level of their satisfaction with the role as mother?
3. How much related variables affect the level of employed, married women's satisfaction with the role as mother?
A questionairre survey was conducted to measure the level of satisfaction of employed mothers of students in the first through third grade of selected elementary schools located in Chunchon. A statistical analysis of data was done by using dispersion analysis, T-verification, relation analysis and regression analysis.
The result of research showed that the more social support was offered, the higher the level of employed, married women's satisfaction with the role as mother became. Then, the more response behaviors were shown, the higher the level of the whole mothers' satisfaction with the role became, there was no significant difference, even though tension conflict, a subordinate domain of role conflicts, affected the level of mothers' satisfaction with the role became.
The following conclusions were deduced from the result of research. First, judging from the fact that survey subjects have been experiencing some levels of role conflicts depending on employment-related variables, employed, married women with lower wages were under more troubles now than those with higher wages, which shows that the former should be offered much more social support.
Secondly, the result of analysing the influence of variables on the level of mothers' satisfaction with their role indicated that response behaviors had the most influence on that. Employed, married women seemed to play an efficient role in improving the level of their satisfaction with the role as mother by encouraging the independence of their children through a redefinition of a role among response behaviors and perceiving a role of their job positively.
Thirdly, the level of mothers' satisfaction with their role showed relatively satisfactory generally in this country. The investigation of subordinate domains, however, showed unsatisfactory in some aspects.
They felt conflicts in the role as mother due to the insufficient support of their husbands and the relationship with their children. This means conclusionally that mothers in this country are satisfied with the role as mother vaguely but feel not a few conflicts and unsatisfactions in their daily lives having been experienced actually. Hence, educational programs on the future mother's role should be organized with more concrete and life-oriented contents. Furthermore, it is considered that programs for husbands and children should be promoted as well as guidelines for mothers. Because the level of mothers' satisfaction with their role is determined from the interactions with their husbands and children and even affects the very life satisfaction of the whole family members, though it may derived from mother herself.
