동경대 소장 한글본 『熱河記』의 번역 양상

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 연암의 『熱河日記』를 번역한 동경대 소장 한글본 『熱河記』의 번역 양상을 살펴봄으로써, 원문과 번역본의 관계를 정립하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 ①책의 형식과 기록을 통해 책이 형성된 시대와 배경을 추정하고, ②내용을 한문본과 대조함으로써 내용의 출입과 개작 양상을 살펴 보았으며, ③문장에 쓰인 한자어 서술어를 통해 한글본 독자에게 쉽게 읽힐 수 있는 문장이 사용되었음을 확인하였다. 이를 통해 한글본 『熱河記』는 한문본 『熱河日記』의 충실한 번역물이 아니라, 비교적 자유롭게 개작되어 민간에서 흥미 위주로 소비되었다는 것을 밝혔다. 이로써 한글본 『熱河記』가 조선에서 한글 산문의 창작 능력을 기르는 초기 단계의 한 예로서 가치를 가짐을 새로이 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to determine relationship between Chinese version of Yeolhailgi and its Korean translation Yeolhagi considering the following evidences. ①Yeolhailgi is made in 19th century judging by form and content, when business of sechaek(book rental) was brisk. ②The liberal tendencies of translation and lots of modification are observed. ③Yeolhailgi the book is written in easy sentences to Korean readers. These facts draw a conclusion that Yeolhagi is not a literal translation of Yeolhailgi but a liberal translation which have characteristic of creative work.
