This study quantitatively analyzed the changes in flood area in the Osong area of Cheongju City due to flood volume and river overflow by frequency. The flood volume and flood level were estimated through hydraulic and hydrological analysis targeting the Miho River basin, where repeated flood damage occurred in the past and flood risk is expected to increase due to the development of industrial complexes. Afterwards, the HEC-RAS 5.0 model was used to simulate flooding according to flood volume at 100, 200, 300, and 500-year frequencies. The analysis results showed that no flooding occurred at the 100-year frequency, but the flooded area tended to increase rapidly over time, especially in low-lying areas, and the characteristics of rapid expansion of the flood area were confirmed, especially in the early rainfall stage. This study provides quantitative data on the flood risk in the Osong area and is expected to be used as basic data for selecting flood-vulnerable areas and establishing effective flood response plans in the future.
