공공 용어 및 전문 용어와 사전 = A Study on the Relationship between Public Terms and Technical Terms with Dictionaries

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글에서는 공공 용어와 전문 용어 등의 용어의 외연이 어떤지를 살펴보고, 이들이 사전에 어떤 형태로 실리고 어떤 방식으로 기술되어 있는지를 살펴서, 용어와 사전 사이의 관계를 다루어 보고자 하였다. 그런 후에 이처럼 용어를 싣고 있는 여러 형태의 용어 사전이 국어사전과 비교하여 어떤 점에서 차이점이 있는지를 생각하여 보고자 하였다. 이어서 용어의 쓰임이 증가하였고 이 추세가 계속되는 현실에서 이를 담는 사전은 어떤 면에 역점을 두어 보완되어 용어의 이해와 사용에 이바지하는 것이 필요한지 다루어 보고자 하였다. 전문 용어와 공공 용어는 용어가 쓰이는 사용 계층이나 분야의 특수성을 고려한다면 전문 용어가 되지만, 언어 사회 구성원에게 두루 관계되는 것으로서 공공 분야에서 쓰이는 것이라면 공공 용어로 이해될 수 있는 면을 지닌다. 따라서 공공 용어는 전문 용어에 비하여 사용 분야와 사용 계층이 개방적이다. 따라서 일반어와 접촉하는 면이 더 많고 용어의 난도도 본래의 것을 유지하지 못하고 평이성을 추구하려는 면에서 낮추어야 하는 경우가 발생하게 된다. 이 과정에서 사용자의 이해 및 수용 정도 등에 따라서 형식과 의미 면에서 전문 용어의 틀이 그대로 유지될 수가 없어서 다듬어지거나 대체되어야 할 필요성을 갖게 되는 경우가 생긴다. ‘탑’에 관한 사전의 처리를 보니 이 말은 일반어와 ｢불교｣ 분야의 전문 용어의 의미를 지니고 있지만, ‘X탑’ 형식으로 되어 있는 전문 용어의 경우는 ｢불교｣ 분야의 전문 용어 의미가 쓰인 것도 있지만 일반어의 의미가 쓰인 것도 있다. 이것은 복합어로 된 전문 용어의 형성에 일반어의 의미가 다른 구성 요소와 활발한 결합을 보이면서 전문 분야적 의미를 획득함을 보여 준다. 이런 전문 용어는 외래적인 어휘가 많다. 따라서 복합어로 된 전문 용어가 많다는 점을 고려하여 음역 외래어의 규범 표기를 정하여 주는 것이 현실적으로 중요성을 지님을 알 수 있다. 또한 의미 이해와 용어들 사이의 관계를 파악하는 데에 용이한 계층적 분야 분류를 도입하여 사전 기술에 이용할 필요가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In this article, we tried to deal with the relationship between terms and dictionaries by examining the extensions of terms such as public terms and technical terms, and in what form they are published and described in advance. Technical terms and public terms are considering the specificity of the class or field in which the terms are used, but they are widely related to members of the language society and can be understood as public terms if they are used in a public field. Therefore, there are more aspects of contact with the general language, and the difficulty of the term cannot maintain the original and must be lowered in terms of pursuing flatness. Looking at the dictionary's handling of the '탑(tap)', this term has the meaning of a general term and a specialized term in the field of Buddhist, but some specialized terms in the form of 'Tower X' have the meaning of a specialized term in the field of Buddhist, while others have the meaning of a general term. This demonstrates that the formation of technical terms in complex languages is actively combined with other components, acquiring specialized field meanings. Many of these specialized terms are exotic vocabulary. Therefore, considering the fact that there are many specialized terms in complex languages, it can be seen that it is practically important to set the normative notation of phonetic loanwords. In addition, it is necessary to introduce a hierarchical field classification that is easy to understand the relationship between meaning understanding and terms and use it for dictionary content description.
